A moment from Ukestra Collective — Menucha 2026

What Is the Ukestra Collective?

The Ukestra Collective is a global, all-instrumental virtual ukulele ensemble — and the culmination of more than a decade of directing the Austin Ukestra, creating hundreds of differentiated ukulele arrangements, and bringing them to life for audiences.

Over these years, I’ve learned deeply about music, ukulele, ensembles, composing, arranging, conducting, teaching, and leading groups of all shapes, sizes, and skill levels. The Ukestra Collective is a way to share that experience with ukulele music-makers everywhere.

And even though this is a virtual ensemble, you won’t feel alone. You’ll be playing with others, hearing how your part fits into the whole, and becoming part of a community that celebrates curiosity, growth, and Ukulele Joy.

For players without access to local ukulele teachers or ensembles, the Ukestra Collective can be a valuable and inspiring musical home.

How the Ukestra Collective Works

  • The focus is primarily on single-note ensemble playing, with chordal options available for most pieces
  • Each semester includes 3–5 ensemble works drawing from Classical, Folk, Blues, Hawaiian, Pop, Jazz, and Rock traditions
  • The virtual format means members play along with recordings; participants are muted during Zoom sessions
  • Members may be invited to play excerpts during sessions, and advanced plans include feedback opportunities

Monthly Zoom Sessions
Last Monday of each month, 6:30–8:00 PM (Central Time)
All sessions are recorded and archived for members

Semester Schedule

  • Semester 1: January 26 – April 27
  • Semester 2: May 25 – August 24
  • Semester 3: September 28 – December 28

*Please Note that we will not be attempting to play together in real time. The virtual nature of the experience dictates that students will be muted and playing along to recordings of the scores. Students will be invited to play their parts for the group during each monthly session.
