Songs & Skills will be the focus this year as Bob and I will bring in some songs, break them down into individual skills for the right hand, left hand, and voice. Focused drills will help students learn the necessary skills and repetition will lead us to success.  As always, teaching will be differentiated to provide all attendees with skills that are at their level, yet, have some challenges that will encourage musical growth for all. There are sure to be plenty of aha moments and healthy surprises as this 2-day workshop will leave you with playable results to share with your friends, family and fans!

Come and join us as we do a deep dive into some great music. I will be leading students through the Parisian underground of the 1930's as we explore Gypsy Jazz! The melodies, rhythms, chords and mood will our focus as we tackle a tune or two from the Django Reinhardt songbook. Bob will be leading the group through the music of a band from Liverpool who, after losing the prefix Silver, became known as the Beatles. Vocal melodies and harmonies, chords and some tasty riffs will be on the bill for this weekend workshop series. Special Pricing through Christmas $200 (regular price $249)

1/31 Beginner Basics: Strumming with Confidence!  
        The single most requested beginner workshop starts off our Spring workshop series. Learning some skills to 
        get in the strumming groove is the purpose of this workshop. $35
2/7  Beginner Basics: Getting Comfortable with Chords
     The shapes, names and fingerings of chords can stop beginners in their tracks. We will get comfortable with          chords and learn some tricks to help us make more music! $35
2/28 Beginner Basics: Fingerstyle 101 Welcome to the world of finger style ukulele! Strumming is fun, melodies 
       are phenomenal, but this approach adds a refined quality that is unexpected on the ukulele. We will leave with
       3 new approaches and  some great new exercises to practice. $35
3/28 Beginner Basics: Classic Ukulele Songs
        So you have a ukulele, know some chords, learned how to strum, now what? This workshop will teach you to play some of the classic songs of the ukulele spanning across multiple decades. $35
4/18 Beginner Basics: Intro to Ukulele Ensemble
        Playing songs at home alone can only go so far for most of us. Teaching how to play ukulele with others is my
        specialty. This beginner-level workshop will help students learn to be part of a Ukestra$35
4/25 Ukulele Rock Band: Fleetwood Mac
        Putting the workshop skills together will be a fun way to end our series this semester. We will learn a fun, easy
        and rewarding classic rock song by Fleetwood Mac.  $35

This workshop semester begins with a study of one of famed   
       Spanish composer Francisco Tarrega’s Classical etudes. This

This new workshop will have us learning an Old-Time Music
        Tune in the traditional method: by ear! Don’t worry, it might be

3/16 Intro to Cuban Ukulele: Buena Vista Social Club NEW
         This new workshop offering will have us unearthing the
         intricate rhythms, soulful melodies and jazz-inspired
         harmonies of Cuban music. We will look at two tunes from
         the classic Buena Vista Social Club album.  $35
3/30 Jazz Ukulele: Rhythm Changes pt. 1 NEW
        
George Gershwin had no idea that his song “I Got Rhythm”
         written for the musical Girl Crazy, would provide the harmonic     
         foundation of jazz. This first workshop will teach us the tune,
         chords and theory behind the song.  $35
4/13 Jazz Ukulele: Rhythm Changes pt. 2 NEW
        
The second installment of this series will delve more deeply into
          the ways this song has been re-appropriated by jazz  composers, arrangers and

          soloists. Our study will include learning some new improvisation approaches. $35
